During the Presidential Charity Golf tournament which was patronized by President Lazarus Chakwera, two teams under Jibs Security scooped two positions in the top three.
The tournament whose aim was to raise funds for tertiary education needy students and victims of natural disaster took place at Lilongwe Golf Club and was launched by the president.
Jibs Managing Director Innocent Chikoko explained that as a company, they thought it wise to participate and contribute towards the cause. The company sponsored 4 teams with K500,000 each totalling to K2Million.
Jibs Security’s team B comprising of Duncan Chidzankufa and Justice Ken Manda, Judge in Chief at the High court of Malawi won with 49 points.
Jibs’ team A of Esther Kawale and Gershom Chima came third while a duo sponsored by Power Marketing of Dorothy Chikoya and Lusayo Sibale were second placed.
President Chakwera when presenting the prizes to the winners, explained that this has been a good gesture by sponsors, he further encouraged other individuals and organizations to come through whenever there are such events taking place.
The winners were offered accommodation for two in the presidential suite at Umodzi park, lunch or dinner at Victoria Hotels Whispers restaurant, shopping vouchers and many more.
The tournament which attracted a field of 136 including the president and the vice president Saulosi Chilima, raised close to K300Million and was played on better ball stable fold format where best score of two-member teams were counted against 60 plus teams.
